What is HotOneTen?
Founded in May 2009, Hot 110/ Hot One Ten was bourne out of a need to represent the underground creative UK scene and encourage a cross fertilisation of disciplines, promotion and ideas. With the rapid expansion of the website, it has grown rapidly both in terms of format and content - developing and expand into new territory as we continue to collaborate and feature the top names and up and coming grass roots talent in both the UK and further afield. With a string of podcasts, multimedia promo including guest shows on Diesel U: Music Radio, Rinse FM and a club night under our belt we continue to challenge and define our own boundaries and in turn maintain our position on the forefront of the latest trends, both digitally and on the streets.
Why the name HotOneTen?
“Hot 110″ was a term, coined in the 1970s used to refer to a graffiti writer going over another writer’s work. The reasons for writing “Hot 110″ over someone else’s work varied on the individual graffiti writer. The main reason a graffiti writer went over works of another writer, was to retaliate against the other for going over his/her work, which is a sign of disrespect.
We believe that creativity can’t exist without competition. It’s time to raise the bar and push things forward!
